2008 Maritime Fest

  1. There will be 3 racing categories:  Corporate, Open (which includes all teams except corporate and youth), and Youth.

  2. After 2 races, the Open division will separate into an A and B division based solely on cumulative times from races 1 and 2.

  3. Medals in all divisions will be awarded based on cumulative times with any possible ties determined by who beat whom or a flip of the coin.

  4. Corporate and Youth will do 250 meter heats.  Open division will race 500 meters.

Team Make-up:

  1. A team may race with a minimum of 16 paddlers.

  2. A mixed team must have at least 8 women paddlers.

  3. Teams will be issued, at registration, like colored wrist bands to paddlers who are listed on the official signed roster.  if a paddler loses that wrist band, they must present ID to the registrar to obtain a new one.

  4. All paddlers in the boat must be wearing the same color wrist band provided to them at registration.  Any team may add up to 2 registered paddlers from any official team at any time during the day.

  5. No host of Fest volunteer may race on any team other than their own, if they have a team entered.  Fest volunteers may fill in as drummers and will be steering throughout the day.

  6. Any captain of any boat may request a roster check at any time.  The Dock Master will check the roster with the paddlers in the boat.  They must match.  If they do not, the paddler in question will not be allowed to paddle in that race.

  7. Youth team rosters may include up to 6 adult paddlers.

Our race committee is meeting to amend our registration packets at this time and hope to have a new, improved version in place soon!  If you have any questions or want to register early, please call us at 1-253-970-TDBA.  Be sure to reserve the date, September 13th, 2008 on your racing calendars!
