Rules for cancelling a practice

The coaches proposed if one of the following conditions exists two hours before a scheduled practice, the practice will be cancelled:

  • When there are sustained winds exceeding 14 mph.
  • When the temperature is below 38 degrees Fahrenheit (check accuweather for zip code 98421).
  • When there is lightning.
  • When the air quality is rated Orange (AQI exceeding 100).
  • When fewer than 6 paddlers signed up as YES for the practice on Team Cowboy.

At the time of cancellation, Team Cowboy will be updated to reflect the practice is cancelled, and an email will be sent out to all TDBA members. Thank you!

Summer Race Series in Kenmore – June 9

Enjoy water sports, including 10 person dragon boat races, at the Summer Race Series at Kenmore Squire’s Landing Park, tomorrow, June 9 from noon to 4 pm! Other water sports include outrigger paddling, stand up paddleboard, rowing and kayak and canoe races.

There’s also a potluck, including a full cooked roast pig! All ages welcome. Free event! Fun!

Tacoma Ocean Fest on June 10

Free fun at Tacoma Ocean Fest!

Join us for a fun day to celebrate, learn and protect our oceans at Tacoma Ocean Fest on Sunday, June 10 from 11 am – 4 pm at the Foss Waterway Seaport — free event!

If you’d like to try dragon boating, come to Ocean Fest! We’ll bring two dragon boats (plus the paddles and vests), and you can paddle on the Foss Waterway! See you there!

Parking & Shuttle Information for RDBF

We hope to see you on Saturday, May 19 for a fun day of dragon boat races at the Rainier Dragon Boat Festival! Here’s some important information about parking and the shuttle service.

Parking at Thea’s Park (the event venue) will be reserved for vendors and people with disabilities. Please see the information below about paid parking lots on Dock St. and free parking and shuttle from the Tacoma Dome Transit Center.

Paid parking lots on Dock St.

There is a paid parking lot next to the Dock St. building and the Rock the Dock Pub ($10 for the day), and two paid lots next to the Fish Peddler Restaurant (East 15th and Dock St).

Free parking and shuttle at Tacoma Dome Transit Center

Free parking is available at the Tacoma Dome Transit Center (434 East 25th St) with a free shuttle service to Thea’s Park. Shuttle service will run from the transit center at East G Street (at G St. and 25th St.) to Thea’s Park, starting at 7 a.m. about every 15 minutes.
